NANHAI's Advanced Floating Technology

Successfully facilitated the construction of steel pipe piles for the foundation of the pipeline support structure in offshore wind power projects

On July 1st, the steel pipe pile construction for the offshore wind turbine project at the Huizhou Port, Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation, undertaken by the Xiamen Branch of China Communications Construction Third Navigation Bureau, was successfully completed.

The total installed capacity of the second section constructed by the Xiamen Branch is 300 megawatts, with a total of 25 units of 12-megawatt wind turbines. The steel pipe piles for the foundation of the guide frame structure of this project have a diameter of 3.3 meters, a maximum length of 85 meters, and a maximum weight of 293.25 tons per pile. The guide frame serves as the "base" and "support legs" of the wind farm.

In this project, Shandong Nanhai Airbag Engineering Co., Ltd. independently developed buoyancy technology played a crucial role, with its main product being the employment of pneumatic floating bodies.

Upon receiving the project, Nanhai Company attached great importance to it. During the production and implementation process, the company's technical team delved into breakthroughs in technology. They continuously employed innovative technologies in overall design, safety valve control, and other aspects. The pneumatic floating body designed and produced by the company measures 3.2*20.5 meters and can achieve a maximum buoyancy of 140 tons for a single floating body.

  • The pneumatic floating body has dimensions of 3.2 meters by 20.5 meters;

  • Stable, safe, economical, saving 50% of project costs;

  • The maximum buoyancy of a single floating body reaches 140 tons;

The project utilizes the Nanhai pneumatic floating bodies bound to the guide frame to provide buoyancy, reducing hoisting force and lowering the required hook load. This approach not only ensures safety and reliability but also significantly reduces the installation and transportation costs of offshore wind power projects. As a result, it has gradually become the mainstream choice for offshore wind power projects.

Since 2014, Nanhai Company has been dedicated to continuous innovation. It has designed comprehensive salvage plans for the "Nanhai No. 1" and "Sewol" salvage projects, showcasing pioneering national technologies and world-class salvage capabilities. The company has also applied its advanced marine equipment technology to national key projects such as the marine ranch "Guobao No. 1" and the intelligent interception system for non-navigational bridge piers of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Through ongoing technological innovation, Nanhai Company is driving industry progress and contributing to the development of the country's marine industry.
