“National Abalone No. 1”successfully landed on the bottom of the Bohai Sea
In the early morning of October 9, 2020, China's seated deep-sea intelligent aquaculture cage, the "Guobao No.1," successfully settled on the bottom of the Bohai Sea. The project was also interviewed by the local television station. According to the reporter, the stable placement of this large-scale aquatic breeding cage, measuring 36 meters in length, 36 meters in width, and 21 meters in draft, was supported throughout by a domestically designed full-rubber floatation system. Manufactured by Shandong Nanhai Safety Airbag Engineering Co., Ltd., this system represents a domestic first. After 3 months of meticulous design and manufacturing, Nanhai Airbag Engineering Co., Ltd. produced 34 floats：
- Large-scale pneumatic float technology, with a diameter of 3-3.5 meters and a length of 10-16 meters；
- Stable, safe, economical, saving 50% in project costs；
- Each float can provide buoyancy of over 100 tons, while weighing only 1.5-2 tons；
- 34 large floats, with a total buoyancy of 3400 tons.
According to the introduction, in the field of marine engineering, large structural components of offshore oil fields are typically lifted and installed using large floating cranes. However, the "Guobao No.1" large bottom-mounted platform relies entirely on pneumatic floats for the entire installation process. This is a first in China and pioneers the concept of installation without floating cranes, laying the foundation for similar projects in the future.
It is understood that the pneumatic floats produced by Shandong Nanhai Airbag Engineering Co., Ltd. were installed in approximately one week. Compared to large floating cranes, this significantly reduces the installation period. In terms of design, not only is the steel structure of the box reduced, but the weight of the steel structure itself is also greatly reduced, lowering production costs and providing a competitive cost advantage in the market.
